The increasing understanding of our need to preserve the earth is leading an increased number of people to seek natural burial. When a green/natural burial is desired there will be several changes in funeral service:
-The body is not embalmed. Embalming fluids are health hazards and they destroy essential elements within the earth.
-If there is a casket, it must be made of bio-degradable material.
-Outer Burial Containers/Vaults are NOT used.
-Traditional Grave Markers are Not permitted. Graves may be marked by the use of small rocks with a name engraved or other means as allowed by the cemetery or other place of burial.
If you desire a green/natural burial, it is essential to convey this to the funeral directors with whom you intend to work.
Not all funeral homes/funeral directors are prepared to work with you in this manner.
Our General Price List for Green/Natural Burials is in process.
Needless to say, there will be changes due to the elimination of embalming, and other services.
